Fares Moshy, affectionately known as “Bongo,” was born and raised in Marangu Village on the green slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, where the mountain has always been part of his life. From a young age, he watched climbers from around the world attempt the summit, and his connection to the mountain grew into a deep passion. More than 20 years ago, he began his career as a mountain guide, learning every trail, camp, and changing mood of Kilimanjaro through real experience, dedication, and respect for the mountain.
After working for many years with other tour companies, Fares recognized the need for a more personal, ethical, and high-quality approach to trekking and safaris. In 2008, he founded Kili WorldBorn Safaris with a vision to offer authentic adventures led by local experts who truly understand the land. His goal was simple: to combine safety, professionalism, and heartfelt hospitality while giving travelers a life-changing experience in Africa.
Today, Kili WorldBorn Safaris is supported by a strong team of experienced guides, drivers, and crew members — many of whom started their journey alongside Fares.
